ABOUT BOOK

ABOUT AUTHOR

There has never been a greater need for the science and art of improving vegetable crop seed quality. The goal of this book is to discuss the complex and diverse areas of seed physiology, biochemistry, and management strategies that together provide the cornerstone of productive farming methods. We examine the mechanics behind seed germination, vigour, and storability using the most recent research and useful insights. We also provide important information on seed dormancy relief, priming methods, and seed enhancement technologies. Our thorough analysis emphasises how important seed treatments are for maintaining the health of seeds and boosting crop resistance to a range of biotic and abiotic stressors. In order to strengthen seeds against viruses, pests, and unfavourable environmental conditions, the book explains techniques like seed coating, pelleting, and the use of biocontrol agents and elicitors. We also explore post-harvest management strategies that are critical to maintaining seed quality throughout handling and storage, stressing the need of temperature control, improved packaging methods, and moisture content control. This book is an essential tool for researchers, farmers, breeders, and policymakers since it integrates state-of-the-art research with useful applications. It emphasises how crucial it is to improve seed quality as the cornerstone of sustainable agriculture, with significant ramifications for socioeconomic growth and global food security. This approach offers a solid foundation for improving seed quality as we traverse the complexity of contemporary agriculture, guaranteeing the resilience and production of vegetable crops in the face of changing obstacles and uncertainties.
